Birth:

Henry is born in Monmouth Castle in Wales. He is the eldest son of Henry, Earl of Derby (later King Henry IV), and Mary de Bohun

July 21, 1403

English Forces in Wales:

16 year old Henry joined forces with his father to fight Henry "Hotspur" Percy in the Battle of Shrewsbury. He is wounded by an arrow that stuck in his face.

Death of Henry IV:

Henry's father (King Henry IV) dies after an extended illness.

Coronation:

Henry is crowned at Westminster Abbey and becomes King Henry V of England.

The Siege of Harfleur:

Henry's forces begin the siege of the fortress at Harfleur, capturing it on September 22, 1415.

The Battle of Agincourt:

At the Battle of Agincourt, Henry leads his forces to an unexpected English victory against the numerically superior French army.

2nd Assault on France:

Henry begins a second assault on France, capturing Caen, Normandy and Rouen and spurring French King Charles VI to sue for peace.

The Treaty of Troyes:

The French agree to the Treaty of Troyes and Henry is recognized as heir to the French throne and regent of France.

Marriage:

Henry weds Catherine of Valois, the daughter of Charles VI of France.

The Siege of Meaux:

Henry and his forces begin the Siege of Meaux in France. Henry becomes ill while fighting this long battle, which takes place during the winter months.

The Siege of Meaux Ends:

The French surrender. By this time, Henry is quite ill.

Death:

At the age of 35, King Henry V of England dies at Bois de Vincennes, France. He had been weakened by dysentery, contracted during the Siege of Meaux. .
